Put a deposit down at my local dealer for $2,000 markup and $1,300 mandatory warranty package back in April. 2nd deposit at the dealership ??
What's a mandatory warranty package out of interest?

I'm in the UK, we typically get 3 years free warranty and can then pay to extend after that

Don’t think CTR is a “nice” car lol. And before I already saved up more than enough to full pay FL5 in 1 go. But tough times no choice. Rip me
Have fun while you're young if you earn enough money to have fully saved over 40k you should probably buy a house and use the equity for the down payment on the car.

By law they cannot make it mandatory for you to pay for a warranty package

Checked with a dealer principal in the UK, it's not on the internal system yet, no chassis codes, nothing.

If you put money on one or get on a list it's unofficial, you're entering into a private agreement with the dealership, who know nothing about the car or allocations.
When I ordered my Z06 it was before it was announced and the Corvette sales manager told me there's already people on the list from people who wanted C7 Zr1's but didn't get one

They are trying to rob him. In the US it is illegal to do this but bad dealers try this all the time

I could be misquoting what it was exactly that $1300 is for, it’s been about 3 months since I talked with them. But with all of my other local dealers, they are about $5-10k cheaper than everyone with markups, so I’m not complaining too much.

Just helped my in-laws get a 2022 Kia K5 LXS at MSRP but they had a "mandatory" $1,295 package but at least it upped the powertrain warranty to lifetime and got them tint, door edge film, and paint and interior protection. Tried to get them to drop it and the $699 dealer fee but couldn't. That was the best I could do.

Yeah I want no paint protection from them. I have that setup outside of the dealership with someone who knows what they’re doing.

it just doesn't make sense to buy a car from a dealer in the internet age. You should be able to order and buy direct from the manufacture but auto dealer lobbyist is so powerful that it will never happen. Tesla is the outlier.

Indications from my dealer in Canada (Ontario) were Canadian order books opened last Monday. I am second on list with paid deposit. Dealer sold 5 CTRs last year and believe they should be able to get 2 by next spring. Works for me as with Canadian winters don't want it on road till the snow and more importantly salt all gone.

Going to make for a VERY long winter!

Next spring?? Jeez. Was hoping they'd be on the street before the end of the year.

Yeah, I don’t think it’s going to be next spring before they hit the road…

…and keep in mind, Canada and the US already seem to be very different, so what he’s hearing could be right for Canada.
