Is it possible that the US can get these before Japan? They stated the motor is built
in Ohio. Are these same motors built
for Japan? It would make sense to build the shell and then ship those to the US based factory in Ohio to install the motor and then farmed out to the domestic United States. If these were to come back to Japan, I can see the delay on coming back across the ocean. Thoughts?
Unfortunately no, I'm not sure that'd be a logical manufacturing process to follow. They likely build the engine in Anna Ohio at the engine plant and then ship those to Japan. It'd be to risky to ship incomplete units such a long way as the unit
would leave the facility without the extensive testing and quality checks they should go through. Not only that, but the sheer difficulty of moving those bodies minus the engine would be extremely difficult and risky. Of course that's just my opinion.

I do work at the marysville assembly plant in Ohio and can say with confidence that's just not something I'd imagine honda doing, of course I could be wrong.

To move a chassis around sounds awful.

I assume not. Honda's Anna plant is their largest engine plant in the world. They export not only through the United States but all over the world. The CTR's motor has been built there since 2015 and is also where the NSX had it's power plant built.

So my guess is the motor is exported and finalized and installed in Japan and then imported back. My guess being through Richmond, CA. I'm only guessing that however.

You ever tried to move a car around with no engine? Lol…a disaster. We have an odyssey in shop that went to the body shop so we had to keep the entire drivetrain. Shit took 2 hours to load up on the flatbed.

I can pretty much guarantee those engines have been built and are already en route or already have been there especially since the same exactly engine is being used

Man, trying to make sense of this is crazy.
So, basically, if we piece together the info we DO have so far…
Honda has released the Type R in Japan, as of Sept. 1st, but no cars have been confirmed delivered to customers. It appears that dealerships have them for display/test drive only, and the time tables for customer delivery are somewhere in the neighborhood of 6 months to a year.(until proven otherwise)
Meanwhile, in the US, we have no clue about anything other than to confirm we have yet to actually identify US bound cars are even being made at this point (though we hope they are), and have no agreeable timeframe for when they might arrive here, despite being sold on a, “Coming this fall” marketing excerpt.
Am I missing anything else? ?

Really wouldn't hold that "coming this fall" statement by Honda as gospel like how people are. Honda can easily just make another statement and delay the car. The whole point of the marketing/advertising is just to generate hype.

The fact that still nobody really knows anything is a sign we will be waiting for awhile

It’s funny that this car sells to, I would say, a relatively small crowd, and who mostly follows everything than can regarding this car, and yet Honda thinks the best way to “generate hype” is to bs it’s customer base with vague timeframes and unreliable availability dates?

I still believe that orders will happen this month and that the first examples will arrive in late November to mid December.

No GM, no rep. Just a good ol fashioned guess.

Im willing to bet that we are in this situation because their marketing department doesn't seem like they communicate at all with the other departments or vice versa.

This is the first new car release that I've followed by Honda so idk if its normal.

Very reasonable pricing. The base with all optional upgrades (limited slip, heated seats, JBL speakers) gets you to 40k, which would be what the best GRC to TypeR comparison price.
