I've had this happen on my FL5 and used to happen on a few F80 M3's I had. Seems to be the dust shield has just the right distance from the rotor and shape to catch small rocks/stones. Usually the stone grinds down a bit and falls out or you can push the shield in a bit all around and that may...
Congrats, love that color. I paid $5k over back in August (central NJ, lots of $$around). You did good for your area. Owned quite a few BMW's (M3's) in the past, but the new ones are very expensive, very powerful, but very heavy. The FL5 is just a blast to drive. Superb combination of power...
Looks good. I have the 27Won strut brace but really struggled to get it to clear the battery (had to remove the battery jacket). I notice that Cusco also has some chassis power braces for the FL5. Can I ask where you purchased the strut brace from?
Agree with you after reading through the Bob oil guy thread, but still confusing because apparently that quote was from 2006 when Honda/Acura used thicker factory fill oils. I can find no mention of break in oil in the manual, other than to change oil when the maintenance minder says to. But...
I just read through the Bobistheoilguy thread and am now a bit more confused. While there is no special break in oil per Honda and what you said above, they do actually recommend not changing the factory fill before the maintenance minder says to.
"Honda's Owner Link states the following: "Why...
Thanks for the info! That makes perfect sense. Assembly lubes leeching into the fill oil probably makes the argument for a 1K to 2K mile early oil change even stronger. Probably one reason why BMW M does the 1.2K mile change at their (BMW) expense.
Can anyone identify the reference of the "special break in oil" that Honda uses? I can't find anything from Honda or in the owner's manual warning about early oil changes. I have owned a few BMW M cars in the past that specified engine and diff oil changes at approx 1200 miles. Those were just...
There are a lot of losers out there these days that derive pleasure from harming people and/or destroying property that they deem you don't deserve to have.
I installed the 27won strut brace yesterday, much more difficult than I expected. It's a very nice product but the clearance over the battery even with the battery blanket pulled back and tucked in just was not there. I got it installed but worried that the bar is compressing the battery. Just...
Agree with all of your points. Thanks. It's always weird the attention performance cars get when many people are driving around unnoticed in $80+K SUV's.
I know this has been discussed before but I have an "unwanted attention" comment and a theft question for those with more knowledge than me. For background I purchased my CW FL5 about 5 weeks ago, and since it isn't a daily driver I have only had it out for any extended drivers about 5 or 6...
Picked up 8/19/23
Fantastic car. Paid $6K over MSRP. But having owned many (sometimes overpriced) BMW M cars over the years, I think Honda could have MSRP'd the Type R over $50K anyway.
Hi, new to the forum. Bought a CW FL5 a few weeks ago. Fantastic car. Owned many BMW and in particular M cars and this FL5 is on par or better in many ways IMHO.
Anyway, I did as albi did and ordered the Mishimoto catch can kit for the FK8 and it fits the FL5 with no issues.
