totally agree
The FWD corner exit understeer is can be very frustrating especially in low grip situations and hopefully you didn’t forget to do the pedal dance because if you did you can’t disable vsa when moving, wtf, and no ebrake to neutralize the understeer
It’s a good sensible daily for...
Have a couple other fun cars: modified E46 M3, modified S2000
They are different driving experiences and I strongly prefer them
The CTR never gets driven on the weekends.
That should tell you enough where the CTR fits within my preference scheme but YMMV
Higher end is not a definition of type...
Still following your thread with a lot of interest, you have so much depth of knowledge and fun to see you playing with the electronic systems with deft.
I have been driving the car stock and have been getting a bit bored. Engine for me is "fine" but wish the chassis was more playful. Would be...
Really looking forward to your work. If we could reflash on the fly or a piggyback that allows continuous control, would be a game changer. Suspension tuning from a laptop like the OEs.
Yes
I'm not a parent yet but carry my parents and other family members around all the time. I want to be able to bomb down to my in laws house and have fun, take them out to lunch, hit some canyon roads with friends, and then drive back in comfort. The BMW M3/M4 and Audi products do that too...
Amazing to read through. Thank you so much for sharing it has been an enlightening read
Do you have any interest in non-ECU based tuning, e.g. making VSA easier to turn off, a damper module to tune the adjustable dampers like DSC controller for Porsches, or overriding the electronic handbrake...
Close friend has IS500.
I have a FL5
They are completely, completely different cars.
Both are unique and should hold value.
IS500 feels more old school. Great V8. Bouncy rev limiter. Annoying transmission. Heavy car. Can be described as floaty. Can drift. Chassis still communicates well. Good...
In a lot of situations, old school cruise works better.
Here's how you do it
1. Turn cruise master switch on
2. Hold distance button.
3. It'll beep and go "Cruise mode activated"
4. Set your speed and go about as usual.
If you want to go back to ACC mode, just hold the distance button again...
If goal is just lowering and occasional track use then the cheapest and probably best solution is to get a set of springs that are well-reviewed and drop the car to your desired height. Swifts are a good idea, and set it and forget it.
This is probably a better option than having to learn how...
you can do old school cruise. You can hold the distance button I believe and you can switch modes. I forget exactly which button it is but it is pretty easy to access.
AutoX since 06 and HPDE since 2012. Used to heavily auto cross and now pretty much just do DE and drift days. usually run advanced group. My driving has kind of plateaued, I would need data to go faster but haven’t had the interest.
E36 M3 -> S2000. The S2000 is my primary track car, basic...
Why are you looking at modding when you don’t understand what you’re doing yet or what your goals are?
What is it about the stock suspension that you are looking to change?
That is awesome! Hope you can find a solution for all of us. Let us know if you run into any snags - I'm sure there are some guys here that would be interested as well
Turning off stability control is the first thing I do when getting in any of my cars. Having to do the pedal dance outside of +R mode is a complete PITA. Has anyone developed a way to code the car to turn off VSA outside of +R mode using just the button, without going through the whole pedal dance?
