The panel gaps on my car aren't perfect. None as bad as the photo, but some are a little off.

Personally I wear gloves. Comfortable year-round and helps preserve the Alcantara steering wheel. Also makes every drive feel special.

Be that as it may, you should fill with premium whenever possible. You can use 87 in a pinch, but it'll cause knock. There is a knock sensor, but it is reactive, not proactive. Thus, there will be knock, and continued use may cause engine damage. It's not worth the risk.

Have you tried putting it into third first, then neutral, clutch out, clutch in, and finally into first gear? It could potentially help. It does for reverse.
