Are gas springs for trunks/hatches usually universally compatible between most vehicles? I'm also thinking a simpler solution would be like a coated/protected adjustable rope-wire that will hold it back a bit from opening all the way.

Is the rear hatch opening height adjustable? The spoiler will rub up on the garage door if I park front in, with the rear at the garage door.
