No, I meant, he talks about the Civic Si tests specifically, it's not related to the Hyundai. He says (@ 11:55 ) that reviewers he knows that attended the California launch event and did instrumented testing achieved 0-60 in the 7-8s range, due to not wanting to roast the clutch. This is a...
Does the normal driving mode also have fake exhaust noise? Or only sport?
I have a theory that it’s programmed this way:
sport - fake engine note
normal/individual - no fake engine note
I think that’s how it was in the 10th gen. I really wish there was a menu toggle for this
I think it's placebo, the "break in" allows you to forget how hard your previous car pulled. Also, Honda underrated the 10th gen, the hatch made around 190 lb-ft torque to the wheels at stock. The Si makes 192 at the crank, so probably 180-ish at the wheels. So that probably explains why your...
The HB price in Canada makes no sense - the Si is cheaper than ST HB by $3,000. The only differences are HB gets the hatch and leather, while Si has all the performance bits. This makes the ST HB poor value here IMO, I'd argue they should cost the same.
I think a lot of people would agree it's more engaging and fun to have to shift from 1->2->3 down the entrance ramp to get to 60, rather than just holding the car in 2nd all the way to 60+
I'm also coming from a mk7.5 GTI, daily drove it for 4 years. The car feels fast but otherwise, IMO, it's not fun to drive, gets boring very fast. 2nd gear is way too tall, you can just floor it and hit over 100km per hour on an entrance ramp, without hitting fuel cutoff. Steering doesn't feel...
I think it's because the car is made in Ontario, so the Ontario dealerships are the first ones to get them. I'm picking up my car soon as well, will probably post impressions on the weekend.
I feel pretty bad for US customers - less features, probably have to wait longer to get it, 5-10K in markups
I’m in the GTA, I got the sonic gray pearl, same as yours. I’m pretty interested in trying out the auto-rev matching, never had a car with it. Always thought it was for people who didn’t want to heel-toe
Congrats on the car, I’m actually getting mine later this week, I’m also in Ontario, pretty excited. Can’t believe we’re getting cars before the review embargo.
How’s the ride quality? Is it comfortable in normal daily driving? Also, how’s the pumped in fake engine noise? Can you turn it off...
