Hi everyone,
Like many of you, I noticed that the open vents on the FL5 front fenders are a magnet for road debris. The tires throw rocks right through them, causing potential damage to the side panels. While high-end performance cars usually have mesh in these areas, our FL5s were left open.
I decided to fix this. I started with a design from Thingiverse, but I wasn't satisfied with the fitment. 7 physical iterations later, I’ve achieved what I consider an "OEM-level" fit that meets my standards.
The Design Challenge: The typical flat guards you find online don't account for the complex geometry of the fender hole. If you look closely, there is a 3mm step at the bottom clip and a weird lip near the top. My design includes a custom cutout and offset to ensure the guard sits perfectly flush without stressing the clips or leaving gaps.

I’m sharing this for the community so you can protect your paint without spending a fortune on commercial kits that might not fit as precisely as this.
Enjoy!

Material & Print Specs:
- Final Version: Printed in ColorFabb HT Black. It’s my go-to for automotive parts—superior to ASA, incredibly durable, and handles high temps perfectly.
- Mesh: Hexagonal pattern with 2mm thickness and 1.2mm walls (optimized for 0.4mm or 0.6mm nozzles).
- Prototypes: I tested PLA versions on casual rides and they held up surprisingly well, so PETG/ASA should be more than enough.
- Honda Part Code: 91512-SX0-003
- Advice: Buy a handful of these on AliExpress or from your dealer before you start. Just break the old ones, install the guard, and use the new clips.
