I find it crazy that even though in Canada mark ups are illegal, the cars that I've looked at have been insanely marked up. I'm willing to pay 5-10k mark up but the cars that I've been screwed on have been going for a minimum of 30k+ mark up.

Checked this one out at Honda North Hollywood….sales rep was clueless she threw out $15k adm.

Manager got involved and was willing to work numbers but I kept re iterating that I’m not a buyer yet. If you’re serious they’re definitely willing to move a unit there.

Car was pretty wide, but looked good in person. The wing looks better in person as well. Major not was that it’s definitely easier to get in and out of the car, seat bolstering seems a bit lower. Personally I still like the look of my fk8 a little better….it just screams type R.

Sales rep was clueless? Should have told her that it was basically an Accord Sport Special Edition with the ADM already baked into the MSRP. ;)
? she offered me a test drive….I used to be in car sales and I know they do not test drive the Rs just common knowledge. She responded with “I test drive the SIs, I don’t see why we can test drive this” I just refused and moved on lol

I reached out to all the dealerships on carguru. The cheapest type r was 54k before tax title transfer.

Just curious when mark ups in Canada are illegal as ADM's have been going on in the Great White North for many years?

Yeah, so in Canada they can't technically can't charge more than MSRP, however there's a lot of loop holes around it and dealers have been marking up cars especially because of the supply issue. Before the supply constraints you were able to either get the car at MSRP or cheaper and if you want to add accessories, you can but they didn't force it on you.
For example, they add on a whole bunch of random crap like 3 year key fob warranty for 5k or something like that and if you don't purchase the car with that add on, then they move down the list until someone takes it. Another common loop hole is they list it as 'used' and can list the price at whatever they want it to be at.
