From what I've read my dealer has done one of the best jobs at handling it.

Called in July and he was not taking deposits but mentioned he had a few people call with interest. We had a good conversation and he promised me the first one but didn't take a deposit, just my info. I didn't pester but kept in touch. Mid October he gives me a call and confirms his dealership is receiving two units and I'm good on the first one. Last week I get a second call and he takes my deposit for $500. No push for any add on's whatsoever. No idea on the colour.

Anybody hear of any coming into Alberta this week? I believe Okotoks Honda and Calgary Honda were getting their first ones this week.

So update in the Type R hunt saga the car I found in Nova Scotia, had some more info be made clear on it. They had the wrong info and the car was going to be arriving as a 2024 model, not a 2023 so it may be in by mid year next year or even later. There was also a $750 key fob warranty, $799 wheel and tire warranty and a $1999 "protection package", they were also giving me $2k less for my trade in, so factor in the cost of coming from Ontario to get the car, It's about a $6k higher price tag then the car I have coming end of next year.

So I ended up not taking that deal and sticking with my original one I had in Ontario. Time to live vicariously through the rest of you guys getting cars until then!

funnily enough I heard about the 2 coming to coquitlam from a new friend who had bought an FK8 from the same dealer back in 2019. someone from the dealership told him all that update (told him he's like 10th in line) while I am not being given any info from the guy whos supposed to be in charge of CTRs, wont even confirm my place in line.
anyways it's good that GVRD is getting a few this year, i think it bodes well for the rest of us waiting.

Is it fair to say there's still a fair number of us that haven't received calls from the dealership for allocation but haven't had our deposits refunded either?
i think from what i have seen in the last few pages some people are confirming their dealers taking 500 deposit to push through to Honda Canada, i think the consensus now is that this is THE deposit, through the portal, then you getting a type r is realistic and within reach might be imminent and less than 12 month period i guess .. if the dealer just have you on their list with our without a deposit that they charged directly then most likely this is a later-on delivery and that list will be used to then put orders with Honda Canada at a later time so beyond 12 months... just my guess

my rep said that i should be getting info from Honda Canada directly about the 500 deposit and that's my assurance that a ctr is reserved for me

i think cars will land in West coast first, i was told no ctr is released in Ontario yet, makes me think if anyone in Ontario getting one it will be 2023 but west coast and Alberta might have an early Christmas

good on you for keeping calm and making the right choice, i just wish they at least gave us options with ad ons, because some of us want accessories just not these, it's called options after all, and dealers are being like take it out leave it, you can add more accessories but the car will come with these and you can add on top

Ya that does make sense. It's just the wait and lack of communication. Knowing that there's reported low allocation to begin with, I'd like to know if I need to move to my back car option instead. I'll wait to hear something by the end of the month and then make a decision.

i feel you I'd put that pressure on the dealer

specially if you're high up in their list 2 or 3

Hope its not the dealership owner’s family member. ?

Wish we are allowed without front plate here in BC.
