Guy seems to be really behind on some things. He did not know the wheels and carbon wing were optional ?.
Also… the CW does not have a red R badge on the front. Thought that was weird.
he says these are preproduction cars so no red R on the front badge.
and he might not be the best auto vlogger but these guys drive and have to keep up with many cars so I would cut him some slack on not knowing whats optional or not.. people (including myseelf) on here are hyper focused on the car so here daily and religiously keep up with any info that comes out lol

No one wants to pay more than suggest retail.. everyone wants to pay as little as possible for whatever they are buying.

We can all agree to that.

If you polled FK8 buyers who paid 5k above suggest retail that then sold or traded their cars... I'm confident in my guess that most would make that transaction again.

The market is the market.

The CTR even with 5k on top is going to be about or less than the average new car price. I say that because the CTR is small potatoes.

You frequently mention higher dollar cars that that you seem to have in interest in. These cars cost more to operate and depreciate harder.

So help me understand your logic.

My last point is that you don't know a person's financial ability.

You don't know if they are coming out of a lease where they pocketed 10k at the end because of the market. Maybe 5k over is nothing to them.

So why are you so worried about it?
Forreal man. I’m guessing most the people on this thread willing to pay that (myself included) have the credit score and income to pay the $5k over. That was my max, and luckily that’s what I have in writing. Not sure how this thread went from excitement over a car to bashing people buying it. Just gtfo if you’re that way ??

At the end of the day, people can do whatever they want with their money. My biggest concern with over MSRP, it encourages shitty practice by dealerships. I personally would not pay over MSRP, I would just try to find another car or keep looking for an honest dealership and buy another year.

Like I said I don't care its your money but people that pay those kinda markups are generally shitty with their finances and I know you'll be eating ramen to pay that 5k.
This is a very strong accusation...I get where you're coming from. But the same could be said about anyone buying this car even at MSRP. 40-45K ain't cheap and there are people who would scold you for buying this car at all. Plenty of financial enthusiasts that very well believe you shouldn't buy a car even if it is in your means until you have say a million dollars or something. It's all opinion and perspective.

Statistics are statistics but the market determines the price. You might be mad at someone paying 5k over MSRP, but it doesn't make it right or wrong. If KBB told you to list your car for 10k over what you felt it should be listed for...What would you do?

I felt the same way, but the same could be said about people who buy the car to simply resell it for a profit. On one hand markups are annoying because the dealer 'should' honor MSRP. On the other hand, MSRP attracts the buyers who honestly intend on just reselling the car. Both sides are flawed.

I'm Broke AF, but I'm still going to try to get one :confused1:

EDIT: I plan to do this with out loosing too much, and this is how it goes:
Borrowing $$$ from bank means I will have to pay interest (~5% to 6%).
But if I can borrow cash (from family) to buy the FL5, then I will open a CD account and deposit equal payment for 60 months. This way, I turn NEGATIVE interest (paying out) into positive CD account interest (coming in). Yes, the family member who loaned me the $$$$ will lose out a bit in interest, but that interest that my Bro can gain, in comparison to the 6% that I will be pay is TINY. The amount of $$$ that can be saved from not paying 6% is a lot bigger than the interest that my bro can earn in 60 months.

So for me, it's win/win.
For the family, it's also win/win.
Just provide account access to your family member who loaned you the cash.
Than it'll be all transparent.

Start talking to your family members.

This is how we play the $$$ game :)

I understand it may be difficult to ask family to borrow $$$ for a car, but this is not a "car" situation.
This is $$$ saving situation, and no one has a grudge against $$$. Most of the time, family members who can help, will help, as they don't want to see you pay out 6% interest...maybe I'm wrong, but that's how I feel. Family is there to help (regardless); just remember to return the favor, or make the payments! :)

EDIT: this also applies to those with gold ball credit of 800+...do you want to pay 4% interest?

y’all, it’s best to leave financial advice out of this. We’re in a terrible economic climate and in a niche forum talking about a rare sports car that hasn’t even had pricing announced yet.

As I get info I’ll share but this is what I got last night

He was spot in last time in 2017 when I got my blue fk8 from him, let’s hope he’s good
Would this mean they would be at the dealers at the end of November? Or does “release” mean they would be loaded on trucks and cleared to ship to dealers at that point? Thank you!

True, but you'd hope if they followed MSRP, it would be mostly people who want this car getting it, because someone who wants to just resell probably wouldn't have their name on a waitlist for 2yrs. But yeah there is no easy solution.

I liked how VW did the launch for the mk7 R, you could put a deposit down online and buy it at msrp at launch.
