Totally understandable. I went back and forth for many months researching and deciding on whether or not to do a tune. Ultimately, I decided on Hondata and the CARB version because it fit my needs. I'm keeping the engine stock and I wanted a simple set and forget setup. But I still can up the boost and torque limit if I want to. For now though, I'm sticking to the conservative +6 tune.

As far as you talking about risking the engine warranty for "just a little more pickup"...

It's way beyond that. This isn't like adding an intake where you aren't sure if it's really doing anything or just adding sound. My butt dyno says this car pulls like a V6 above 3500rpm. Doug once called the acceleration "exhilarating" and it really is.

OK... most of the time I drive conservative. But, I do have my fun here and there. I don't launch it or do standing start pedal to the metal 0-60 runs. Most of my fun comes from passing cars on the highway. I also passed a semi one day on a single lane road going up a very steep hill. I had a small window to do it too. And I never could have done it with my stock setup. Tuned, it was a piece of cake.
Thanks for the quick response. so you wouldn't be worried about using the +6 psi carb calibration by virtue of the sport button? I'm figuring to keep this car for 10 plus years, and since it's just my summer car it could take awhile for me to hit 100k miles on it. My last 09 civic ex just hit 100k and I have had zero issues with it and all I did was add a short ram intake. Dont get me wrong I am sure it's a MAJOR increase in fun and I'm sure I would love passing people even more than I already do now. I've been trying to hold off till I see if anyone comes into any issues before I pull the trigger on the hondata. This is my first Si and I have never done any ECU modifications to my cars. Maybe this Christmas I'll pull the trigger.

I can't swear to the longevity. No one really knows. But, looking at my numbers (on the Hondata app) with 93 octane everything looks great.

A little observation from today:
I set up my tune so the ECON button runs the stock tune. But today I realized there's really no need for it. I get the same basic MPG with my +6 tune as long as I'm driving part throttle. The stock tune's throttle response feels kind of slow too. About the only time I'll run the stock tune is when I take it to the dealer for maintenance.

gt,

Been following your posts concerning the FP and want to say thanks. Just bought the FP for my completely stock 18' EXL Coupe. Excited to run the base maps with extremely minor tuning in the future.

Thanks,
Jim

The first time your really put your foot into it (+6 tune) at speed you will have a smile on your face, no doubt.

I got a call from Hondata co-founder Doug today. He answered a few questions I had and was very, very helpful. He knows his stuff.

I was very impressed that he took the time to call me. Big props go out to him.

What questions did he answer? Anything we would want to hear?

I asked him if there was any way of adding the new adjustable throttle response from the Race Flashpro to the CARB version. He said he would look into adding that in a future release.

I also asked some general tuning questions and he gave some input on that.

Eagerly awaiting my FP to arrive for my EXT. GT, after reading your feeds, I am anxious to install it into my civic. Thanks for the read.

Installed today and I agree! How's the 2.5-3% & Torque bump treating you?

You mean the custom tune I was playing with? I uploaded it to the secondary slot of the FlashPro but haven't flashed the tune yet. I'm pretty happy with the base +6 for now. But, down the road, I'll give it a whirl.

JJ - did you have any issues with your MM changing for the oil maintenance after loading the FP?

Not at all, in fact it was one of the first things I checked.
That's great to hear. Don't know why some others had such an issue with that. Excited to get mine delivered tomorrow.

I never had such issues. Only a few people I know of have had this happen. I wonder if it's just a coincidental thing.

Had a crazy drive home on the highway today. Two large dump trucks ahead of me in my lane were spewing gravel out. So, I gunned the car to pass them and kept the pedal to the floor. With the +6 it wasn't long before I passed them (they were doing about 65 mph) and when I finally looked at my speedo I was well into triple digits very quickly. I then slowed down...

Note: I do not street race. This was me powering out of a situation to avoid damage to my car.

It's been about two weeks since I've flashed my '16 EX-T sedan with the +6 basemap. The gains are definitely noticeable and I would think this is what an SI would feel like (even though I haven't been in one before lol). I just purchased an Injen SRI today. Waiting for it to come in the mail and will be re-flashing to the +6 psi Injen SRI basemap once everything is installed. Will definitely update!
