Thanks for the quick response. so you wouldn't be worried about using the +6 psi carb calibration by virtue of the sport button? I'm figuring to keep this car for 10 plus years, and since it's just my summer car it could take awhile for me to hit 100k miles on it. My last 09 civic ex just hit 100k and I have had zero issues with it and all I did was add a short ram intake. Dont get me wrong I am sure it's a MAJOR increase in fun and I'm sure I would love passing people even more than I already do now. I've been trying to hold off till I see if anyone comes into any issues before I pull the trigger on the hondata. This is my first Si and I have never done any ECU modifications to my cars. Maybe this Christmas I'll pull the trigger.Totally understandable. I went back and forth for many months researching and deciding on whether or not to do a tune. Ultimately, I decided on Hondata and the CARB version because it fit my needs. I'm keeping the engine stock and I wanted a simple set and forget setup. But I still can up the boost and torque limit if I want to. For now though, I'm sticking to the conservative +6 tune.
As far as you talking about risking the engine warranty for "just a little more pickup"...
It's way beyond that. This isn't like adding an intake where you aren't sure if it's really doing anything or just adding sound. My butt dyno says this car pulls like a V6 above 3500rpm. Doug once called the acceleration "exhilarating" and it really is.
OK... most of the time I drive conservative. But, I do have my fun here and there. I don't launch it or do standing start pedal to the metal 0-60 runs. Most of my fun comes from passing cars on the highway. I also passed a semi one day on a single lane road going up a very steep hill. I had a small window to do it too. And I never could have done it with my stock setup. Tuned, it was a piece of cake.
