Not sure how I feel about the sedan but I realized the front had an homage to the 10th rear tail-lights perhaps?

Its a fun way to look at it. But if you look at the new Honda Fit, it's lower grille is VERY similarly shaped (just not as tall as on the civic) so I feel like it was just a general decision in how to evolve the brand's family face for its next gen vehicles. I suspect we'll see a similar treatment for the next accord, as well as a version of it for the crossovers to a degree.

Although not explicitly "C" shaped as the 10th gens... the new Hatch also has "C" shaped lighting elements for the tail lights, as where the sedans appear to mimic the shape of the front DRLs

Yeah there was a post on reddit forum about that magazine reveal for the 11th hatchback in japan. Someone responded saying they hated how the lights connect in the back. But then again the coupe had that and now there's no coupe so that could be another dna left over, very interesting.

I personally love a full width taillight (I have a coupe now). But the tail light on the new HB doesn't actually connect. It has a connecting piece that runs across the back, but the center portion is used as the 3rd brake light, not a tail light. So it'll only be full width when stopped, at night with the outer light elements on, which IMO is kind of disappointing. I would've liked to have seen a true full width tail light like the coupe has.
