My mechanic nephew was installing a sway bar for me today as soon as he popped the hood he said "I smell coolant". Sure enough back side of engine was wet with coolant as well as the reservoir which was almost bone dry inside. We went ahead and did a pressure test and found that the reservoir is leaking at the seem. I was relieved in a way that it wasn't anything more serious, but also not very happy being the car is less than a year old. Anyway I have an appointment at the dealership for Monday AM.
The OEM coolant reservoir tank is a bit of a crap design in my opinion and I will definitely be looking into a aftermarket reservoir. Maybe one where you can actually view and be able to see the coolant level. Is this tank failure a thing with the XI gen Civic and has anyone else experienced this failure ?
