I am looking to get a set of coilovers for mostly street use but would like to grow into more track days. I am not sure what is going to be best option for me and I was hoping those with any coilover set ups can chime in. I am looking at Fortune Auto 510s, mostly as I am in the US and consider customer service, and warranty just as important as the product itself. I am only considering the HKS due to their price right now with the USD to Yen exchange rate, but concerned if there are any customer service issues, HKS is on the opposite side of the world.

Ohlins are tested and have a great reputation. Do they come with adjustable camber plates for the front? Or is that extra? I would like to get these but know they are kind of out of my budget if you have to add camber plates and damper cancelers. Also how is their customer service? Am I able to send them back to Ohlins in 5-7 years when they need to be rebuilt?

I am considering Fortune Auto at the top of the list due to the great customer service interactions I have had with them so far. I inquired about recommended springs rates for their coils and they recommended 8-9k up front and 4-5k in the rear, using a "true rear" setup. Can anyone chime in on this? Is it better to have a true rear suspension setup on the FL5, with the springs on the damper, or the way it is setup now stock, with the springs and damper separate?

Does anyone out there run 510s on their type R? Thank you for any information. I REALLY REALLY appreciate it. Peace be the journey y'all

What specifically are you looking to gain going from the factory suspension to coilovers? The factory suspension is pretty capable on track especially if you dial in some additional camber up front. Having said that, I would go with Ohlins or KW if you're looking for a coilover setup that provides better track-focused damping at a reasonable price. Some good info in this thread.

Read through that thread. Not a whole lot of info on fortune auto. Looking to lower car but not as low as springs. Want softer street ride and better rebound over bumps. What coils are you running?

Ohlins is one of our top sellers. If you want to ball out, we have AST 5100 in stock too. Ohlin is a good combo for daily/track guys.

Do ohlins have adjustable camber plates for the front included? Or do I need to get those sperate? Do you have coils on your car? Looking for specific reasons to buy one brand over the other and wanting to get feedback from real owners in their ownership experience. Not just these are top sellers so get these.

Hoping someone can chime in and give an opinion on true vs divorced rear suspension

No they do not. I'm running RSR on mine. Was able to keep EDC, works great on and off the track.

Have you considered the Spoon springs? Small drop and the non-linear spring should improve ride quality a bit.
I'm on stock springs with ITS ADS and love the ride quality. My last car had TC Kline double adjustable coilovers and I wouldn't go back unless I went with something really high-end like JRZ or Moton. The RSR is appealing for the ability to keep EDC.

not looking at springs currently as they are all too low for my daily driving need.

Can you comment on their customer service? What happens in 5-7 years when they need to be rebuilt?

If you still have the car in 5-7 years. Buy a new set, it would have paid for itself by then.
Seems like a waste of money to do something like that no? a couple of hundred bucks to service and rebuild, vs 3k?

never heard of a rebuild costing a couple hundred bucks. Shipping alone is probably $75-$100 each way these days, and probably double that in 5-7 years way things are costing.

To each their own. I would rather something factory fresh, brand new, and minimal downtime.

e.g. If you go Ohlins, i would buy a cambered top hat and then cancellers. those two pieces are about $1k alone + Ohlins, you are looking at almost $3,500-$4k

not HKS or Ohlins but last I inquired for a rebuild for coilovers (nitrons) was about $200 per + shipping so probably looking at like $900. Still a lot better than buying a new setup though.

I agree with Big Bird that if you still have the car in 5-7 years you would have got a lot out of the coils depending on how many miles and what you use em for thats a ton of use.

I wish there were more options for the FL5, seems like there are a few and they are pricey because the cancellers alone are a lot, check out gears and gasoline you tube channel, they literally released a video on the fortune auto coilsovers. I have no experience with fortune auto but from what I hear they are more marketing than what they offer compared to KW and Ohlins which seem to be tried and true.

RSR seem interesting because you keep the EDC but who knows how rebuilding will go and not sure how tried and true they are, I would probably only consider ohlins or kw or if you want a proper motorsport setup nitron or mcs.

I believe HKS USA will only service products bought from a HKS USA dealer, so if you buy from gray market Japan companies, you have to consider that too.
