Hey guys, this is my first time posting here, had my type R for just about a year now and I absolutely love the car. I got the car tuned last year around February by a very reputable tuner. So the day when my car was tuned, on the way back home, my fuel pump went out and threw a p0087 error code, took it to the dealership and they replaced it under warranty, everything was good for the next 5000 miles. Yesterday I was at the track and noticed there is fuel cut at higher rpm( I have been noticing the car took little bit longer to crank up which that was unusual once in a blue moon) after the car cut fuel twice at 3th gear I decided to pack my things and go home, at this point I have check the ecu there is no error code and drives normal. When I was 15-20 miles out from home the car stalled on an uphill and it won’t start, so I waited few minutes and the car started up and drives fine once again. I slowly moving back in a bumper to bumper traffic and the car stalled once again. At this point I have decided to call the tow truck to tow me back home. While I was waiting for the tow truck, I remembered there are few people with type R and type S had the fuel cut issue and once they clear the code the car can drive again. So I decided to clear the error code, once again I was back on the road, car drives normal. I stalled one more time on the way back but clear the code and be able to move again( at this point is just too dangerous to call tow truck and I was few miles away from home) I got home and flash the car back to stock and the car still act normal and no issues, I took it out around the block did not go high on rpm but the car drives fine. I know it’s fuel pump because it’s the same code as last time(p0087) I have a new high pressure fuel pump on order and will get it put in this week, and will leave the car stock for now until I can figure out what is wrong. I know there are a lot of knowledgeable guys on this forum, do you guys think the problem is the tune or just fuel pump? I just can’t think I got two defective fuel pumps back to back, could it be the tune asking too much than the fuel pump can supply? Why is I never had any issue for the last 5000 miles and the car drives flawless. One last question, do you guys think that drive back home with a bad fuel pump could cause any damage to the car at all? Thanks in advance, hopefully I can get this resolved soon.

Sorry to hear. Any logs recently when it occurred? Perhaps share fuel pump demand and command logs?

Unfortunately didn’t do the log on the track when I had the fuel cut, I did take a look my fuel command and fuel pressure on my way back and it was normal, number are matching, until it stall at the light and didn’t log anything as I was little bit nervous with all the incoming traffic.

I would be pulling out the entire fuel cradle and checking your fuel pump, pressure regulator and the fuel filter as well. Take it to a specialist fuel shop where they can test each individual element of the cradle to get to the root cause. For example, testing flow rate of a fuel pump on a bench, checking the regulator, and Venturi are all working as they supposed to. Did they replace just the fuel pump or the entire cradle unit, including the fuel pump regulator inclusive?

I’m actually doing just that, I think the first time the dealer only replaced the fuel pump, but I have ordered a whole new set of high pressure fuel including the rail and regulator I want them to be replaced and not going back and forth with this issue. So another question, do you think that drive back with a bad fuel pump when the car stalled few times would damage anything at all?
