I'm a couple months late, but I'm so annoyed that nobody bothered to make this illustration which puts the whole bumper height "issue" to rest. I just took 5 minutes out of my day for this nonsense.

The bumper height between the FK8 and FL5 is practically the same. The part where the tail light starts is not how high the bumper is.

I just noticed, the exhaust on the FK8 is taller.... if you measure from the outside edges. :(

Pretty sure the actual bumper beam location and the load in height are very close if not the same between the 2 cars. Having owned both and living daily with them I think they certainly feel the same. FL5 if anything is of a less useful shape because how much lower the rear roof line is so you have issue with larger object in the hatch....

DE5 has WAY higher rear hatch load in height....which looks to make it a bit harder to use as a hatchback...

That seems to be an Acura theme (plus the high bumper). I bought a RSX and to load anything into or out of the rear hatch, I had to bend over holding the weight to set it in, or bend over and lift it out. It was a pain in the back! I wouldn't buy another one on that alone. Honda has a smaller lip back there and it's a lot easier to deal with.

The floor height is the same so one would still have to bend over to reach it. It's just a lip that 6" higher so you need to lift the item over this. I have loaded/unloaded bikes, twin mattress, etc without issue. Gotta love hatches.

Yeah, you're right, with the seats down, who needs a SUV!
