  1. Icehawk's "OEM+" speaker upgrade

You can optionally use the same size speakers as the front, just look for a 4 ohm rating for the rears and yes, you do need the adapter rings and speaker harness if you dont want to cut into factory wiring.
  2. Icehawk's "OEM+" speaker upgrade

Keep us posted 👍 Yea just make sure you use a speaker adapter. Example below. I used the ones from Crutchfield initially but they both work and you can see where it says up to 6.7 on the adapter rings and a plus is that you get the wiring adapters as well...
  3. Icehawk's "OEM+" speaker upgrade

I had the link saved from my recent search. https://www.cdtaudio.com/cdtnew22/products/refurbished/refurbished.php
  4. Icehawk's "OEM+" speaker upgrade

The ELS system and BOSE both have the identical ohm ratings. Seems like only the 2 ohm drivers are the front doors. They also show watt ratings of 20 watts per driver. More information than what BOSE stamped on their crappy drivers at least. And to be clear, the biggest improvement with the...
  5. Icehawk's "OEM+" speaker upgrade

I recently upgraded my stock subwoofer (POST ABOVE) with an amped 8" JL Audio and well obviously after that upgrade, I wanted the rest of the factory speakers to match and heres my experience. First went with a set of Memphis Audio PRX 6.5 2 ohm version and honestly, the stock BOSE were better...
  6. Icehawk's "OEM+" speaker upgrade

Drilled the firewall and used the grommet that was included in the amp wiring kit. If needed I can find the YouTube vid I followed. EDIT* ATTACHED LINK. Seen some people use an existing grommet and just poke a hole through it but seem janky and risky.

  9. FL5 Aftermarket Amp & Subwoofer Installation Advice

Yea I agree and having to leave the carplay screen to return to the sound settings menu in the headunit is a pain in the ass just to adjust the bass level. Mounted the knob in the empty space near the factory traction control button. Looks stock and is easily accessible mid song.
  10. FL5 Aftermarket Amp & Subwoofer Installation Advice

Hope this helps anyone considering the amped subwoofer upgrade. I ended up going the Amped route along with the LC2i as the LOC specifically to use the AccuBass feature. I’m using a JL Audio JD250/1 amp that has high level inputs but when I installed it without the LOC, it lacked bass. Added the...
  11. Icehawk's "OEM+" speaker upgrade

I’ve had a powered JL Audio ACP110LG with a single 10” in my previous car and this surprisingly hits harder. For about half the price since I did the install myself plus my car is the actual grocery getter so having as much trunk space without having to remove the sub was ideal.
  12. Icehawk's "OEM+" speaker upgrade

Older thread, but I joined this group just to contribute to this post since it was my main source of information along with a YouTube vid. I ended up going the Amped route along with the LC2i as the LOC specifically to use the AccuBass feature. I’m using a JL Audio JD250/1 amp that has high...
