So I just took my mirror back off so I could compare the mounts and I'm pretty sure I figured out the main reason for the Accord mirrors being too loose or coming off really easily. Take a look at these pictures of the mounting spring. The first is the OEM FL5 mirror, the second the Accord...
I'm beginning to wonder if the mixed luck is because of slight differences between the mounts in our cars or the mirrors themselves. They're Accord accessories so surely they all have to fit in any supported Accord models... right? My running theory is the FL5 mount & Accord mount aren't exactly...
Definitely don't ignore it; you don't want any open recalls left on your VIN indefinitely. I just had mine done. Took 30 minutes, no problems popped up and the car drives exactly the same as before.
Now, back when the recall required dropping the subframe, I would have recommended waiting...
I doubt it, Honda doesn't even allow dealers to use the old procedure anymore. They might have a different tech doing the recall since some dealers prefer to have certain techs do some recalls (or do more involved jobs on Type Rs and Si's in general, which is the case for the dealer I go to) but...
OK, so the bolts you circled fasten the subframe rear stays to the chassis and are torqued to 69 ft-lbs. See item C in the below assembly diagram. I doubt those were loose from the factory.
As for the missing bolt, I'm 99% sure that bolt and its left side equivalent are the primary bolts...
Well at least they'll re-torque everything. I'll see if I can dig through my AllDataDIY database tomorrow and locate the bolts in your pictures. Then I can at least confirm which ones aren't shipped from the factory. Also, keep an eye out for alignment issues if you haven't checked the usual...
When did you have the recall performed? They don't drop the subframe anymore (see my posts earlier in this thread). Did you talk to a service advisor or the service manager? If you didn't talk to the manager, ask to speak with them, then ask to see the job details written by the tech who...
OK, yeah, just sounds like the hondabond curing to me. If something was burning off you'd have smelled it immediately. Those silicone-based sealants can let off some really awful smells as they cure, especially right after they're applied. If you picked up your car right after the job was...
did you notice the smell immediately after you parked in the garage, or only after you went back in a few hours later? when they put the endcap back on after injecting the grease they put some hondabond sealant on the threads, which is kinda like silicone gasket maker. I've never used the stuff...
So it's been dropping below 20 degrees here (sometimes in the single digits) and around that time I also started getting occasional burning smells on 20+ minute drives. Ended up finding a small leak in the valve cover gasket right over the exhaust manifold. I had the dealer replace the gasket...
@Revenge134 interesting, I'd usually expect dealers to require that one of their own certified techs do the work. It sounds like you know what you're doing, but I'd advise most people to have a dealer do it for liability reasons. Plus it's free.
afaik this was only a problem with replacement...
same with mine - it wasn't as tight as the OEM mirror but definitely didn't just pop out when I pulled on it.
the part numbers for the OEM mirror are the same for all '22-'25 Type Rs, so I doubt it. I'd guess that the tolerances of the accord mount are a bit different than the civic's. can you...
Honda changed the procedure on 10/18, but allowed dealers to still use the old procedure temporarily since the kit for the new procedure was in limited supply. As of 11/1 Honda no longer allows dealers to use the old procedure, so if you get the recall done they won't drop the subframe. If they...
I just got the letter in the mail for my 24 FL5 today. I was waiting for that before doing anything because the car drives fine and I (like many others here) was not a fan of the first repair procedure involving the dealer dropping the subframe. Like others mentioned, the procedure was changed...
I actually drove a 2023 civic touring before I traded it for my FL5 and I didn't notice any difference in the mirror angle in my 2023 vs the accord mirror in my FL5, albeit I'm 6'3" and my head is pretty high up in both vehicles. I'd be interested if anybody has pictures comparing the two.
When...
It's gotten down to the low 30s here and I'm noticing this as well. I'm pretty sure it's just because the engine needs some time to build up oil pressure and reach its ideal temperature. This is especially important for our engines because they're turbocharged. My 2017 EX-T and 2023 Touring...
I was confused a bit by this since my car also had the B18 fuse installed.
short answer: if the B18 fuse is already installed, you're all set, no need to install another fuse as long as you plug the harness into the connector on the fuse box as shown in the install instructions.
long answer...
That thought did run through my head, but I doubt there's a tune on it. I bought it from a reputable dealer, and I really want to believe Honda wouldn't have tacked on the certified warranty if the ECU indicated it still had a tune flashed to it. I would re-flash it to stock with Honda's ECU...
OK, good to know, thanks. I remember iHDS had separate counters for 2 different types of misfires but it didn't say what each "type" was. But yeah, since no CEL or codes I guess that's all within design range.
How cold is "cold"? The coldest I've driven mine in was 45F and never noticed a drop...
