Yes, I use downstar hardware and had to fasten them down tight enough which slightly digs into the finish of the cooling plate. It would still touch the hood in certain places so I used felt pads for furniture to protect both.
I would personally recommend the EPR v-type between that and the GU (purely from a drivability standpoint). Here are some pics of the underside damage to the GU lip when I decided to switch to Varis.

It can be a pita sometimes, bc the adhesive doesn't love to stick to indentations (i.e. the rear diffuser) especially after they get wet. It's not bad, but there are spots that will hang down ever so slightly below the concealer strip. I'm ocd, so it bothers me a lot ?.
