In Reply to Post #187: It seems I am in luck, although I live in Germany, I found a dealer who was willing to let me preorder a 2023 Type R and the contract that is signed by both parties states that I will pay "only" MSRP".

I talked to a dealer last week and he will order one for me. I should add that this was not some random car dealership but a direct Honda subsidiary / branch office (They are called "Honda Niederlassung" in German) and there are 3 of those in Germany (Düsseldorf / Frankfurt a.M. / Leipzig)...
