@MuffinMcFluffin the noise you have seems normal, but I wonder if using that shift knob (which is pretty heavy) makes the sound more pronounced. In addition a taller knob height is set to the more force it will see when the lever snaps back.
I have experienced any excessive noise, but I’ve been...
I’ve heard that the short throw adapter included in the non-CTR kit makes the throw shorter than the R since the R isn’t compatible with that component.
I agree with @boosted180sx but there’s a possible slight difference because the lever and base isn’t the same (but close). But yes very...
Stage 2 kit is the one for you. The full shifter is more firm than a modified stock shifter will ever be.
For example: when you are in neutral you can easily shake the shifter side to side. With the full shifter, there isn’t any play unless you are deliberately trying to get into 1,2,5,6, or...
I don’t think it’s necessary, but I did it as track prep. The kits do improve on shifting feel. I don’t want to say it makes it any smoother but it allows you to shift more “confidently” if that makes any sense. Each piece helps in removing slop in the system. Those were one of the first mods I...
@mvela any of the 10th gen manual civics should be compatible with the different kits. The stage 3, in addition to the shifter comes with the cable bushings and the shift knob. The cable bushings alone make a noticeable difference in shifting. If you’re looking just to tighten a few things up...
Not to speak for Russ, but I would strongly consider a stage 1 or 2 kit before the stage 3. The results are impressive either way you go. But stage 3 definitely requires greater force.
I experienced some “crunchiness” when my car was stock brand new (2018 model). I’ve been told the transmission has a break in. Maybe @Jason@USR can speak to that. USR hooked me up with some Amsoil trans fluid at around 5k miles. Even when I had the stage 2 setup I didn’t have any issues. I’m now...
This is a copy and paste from my review but here it is!
I came from the stage 2 kit I’m addition to using a 3rd party shift lever and shift knob
Settings used:
Gate Spacing... 2
Throw... 3.5
Knob... 1
Initial observations:
Shifter is solid as a rock and quite stiff (side to side stiffness)...
This thing is beefy!!! Looks amazing. Install was pretty straight forward. I’ve realized now with a tighter setting I prefer more of a cylinder style shift (waiting for the colored knobs). Have got any miles on it yet, but I’ll report back shortly once I dail in the settings to my preference.
@Tim818 yea “this install doesn’t seem to bad” the words you regret hours later
Technically it’s three bolts and a hose, but it was such a pain. Make sure the engine bay cools down overnight. Even with ten minutes of very light driving, the turbo was still hot hours later. Drove around 6:30...
