  1. Still Getting Adjusted to FWD | Homestead Miami Speedway Open Track Day

I think this is what I'm going for too... the peppy for longer is the "non-technical" way to say it ;) I'll likely do the OP's mod too... no reason not to since it's cheap (I'm just not sure about the rain-gutter delete for me)
  2. Still Getting Adjusted to FWD | Homestead Miami Speedway Open Track Day

I am the other member and I'm going to look into what you've done here. Also, as you've likely seen, this PRL Intercooler Blog Links is worth reading (if, indeed the data truly checks out...) PRL Intercooler Blog Link Interestingly enough, from their blog, the following: "Once each car...
  3. FL5 Track-day at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course - Personal Experience

There was plenty of tread-depth, but I could tell they were hot. I had a LOT of medium limestone (nearing #57 size...) stuck to my tires since our paddock wasn't paved... smdh. However, from the LogR, I did only see a few times where I was approaching the limit of the tire... but I know I did...
  4. FL5 Track-day at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course - Personal Experience

The "engine temp bars" on the left hand side appeared ok, but it was clear my power was gone in the afternoon runs... see above response for clarity.
  5. FL5 Track-day at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course - Personal Experience

In the morning, my oil temps stayed low and my intake air wasn't too bad. With the GR86's behind me, when I'd pull out of a corner and launch into the straights, I would smoke them (in their own words). In the afternoon, the car was hot, wouldn't cool down easily (even when leaving running...
  6. FL5 Track-day at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course - Personal Experience

I was down into second on the keyhole and the last chicane in front of the pits (finish line). Launching downhill out of the keyhole in second, to third, to fourth was quite exhilarating to say the least... ;)
  7. FL5 Track-day at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course - Personal Experience

Hello all, I'm busy today at work, but wanted to blog some things here for you FL5 owners out there.... This was my first track-day event ever. My car had 400 miles on it. Stock oil, pads, tires, etc. Course was Mid-Ohio. This was a NASA HPDE-Intro course, although they said we would be...
  8. [Now Available] AWE Exhaust Suite for the Honda FL5 Civic Type R

Interesting. Can you theorize why Honda placed it there in the first place? Can you also explain the +12dbA gain in noise at 1-meter when my mic is axially aligned with the center exhaust tip/discharge when +R mode is engaged?
  9. [Now Available] AWE Exhaust Suite for the Honda FL5 Civic Type R

I couldn't agree with this more. I used to work at Honda R&D Americas in Marysville. This button (and linked valve) are purposely placed here for sound concerns. There is no reason Honda would have included it otherwise... if it wasn't needed, they would just save the hassle, programming...
  10. Snell 2020 Helmet Recommendations

Well I had all intentions of getting the Zamp RZ-59. but after the guy at Summit Racing telling me a lot of people get Racequips, I went with the PRO20. I did try the L and XL on for both of these, and likely would have went with the Zamp because I liked the front venting more, but I felt I was...
  11. Snell 2020 Helmet Recommendations

I’m running at Mid-Ohio in September and will likely begin autocrossing (just became an SCCA member today). Good call on the nomex. I’ll check out the Racequip.
  12. Snell 2020 Helmet Recommendations

Hello all, Im looking for recommendations on Snell 2020 helmets. I know there are a lot of manufacturers out there, but the standard somewhat makes them all the same. I’m thinking full face, but I like the reduced chin protection too.
  13. Harness Bar Options

They responded today - Ballade Sports said that the FL5-specific harness bar is "in the works". That's all they said... I'll check on timeline, price, etc... but that's all I know.
  14. Harness Bar Options

I emailed Ballade sports and asked... time will tell.
  15. Harness Bar Options

Hi All, I’m headed to Mid-Ohio this fall and was looking for a good hardness bracket that someone can recommend for the FL5 (that has confirmed the fit and still allows rear passengers to easily enter and exit the car). Thanks all.
  16. Ultra Racing Front Strut Bar Installed

Looks good. However, I would caution that 2 of your 3 tower bolts aren’t showing 1-1/2 thread protruding past your tower nuts, which may lead to axial/stripping failure.
  17. Capless Fuel Filler

I’ve been spoiled by my 2023 Honda Pilot Trailsport and it’s capless fuel filler port only to be quite disappointed at my first FL5 fill up to see a darn cap on the fuel port. Has anyone seen, heard, or tried replacing this cap to make it capless?
  18. Civic Type R "Free Flowing" DownPipe

I’m considering getting the PRL intercooler and front pipe, but first want to know if I do a cat-back exhaust (from whichever manufacturer), will this front pipe still work and the cat back bolt on at the downstream end of the front pipe? Also, per jayely14, will it throw a CEL error?
  19. Drop in K&N filter available for FL5

I’ve been thinking about getting a Sprint P08 after reading about their material and weave (I still want engine protection but who doesn’t love a little more sound and throttle response). Nonetheless, did anyone dyno any gains from these filters (K&N included)?
  20. Custom DIY WeatherTech Type R Floor Mats

I’ve always used WeatherTech but have heard the clutch and/or accelerator may not fully depress. Can you confirm they can fully depress?
