Welp, my FL5 out of the blue had a second gear grind while I was on a conference call. Scared the poop out of me. It was like it was in gear but it wasn’t. I quickly popped it back up and then went to third and said screw second. I wasn’t even shifting hard nor driving hard.
Does a certain...
Thank you for taking the time to write your impressions.
At Mid-Ohio on my first round (two more weekends this fall) I realized I wanted cooler air and oil, so I’ll be doing an intercooler et al., but haven’t found the right oil cooler yet.
I dont want more power per se just yet, but I know...
During my recent stint on the track, I noticed very seldom times that burning clutch smell. I was so concerned about it, that to make sure it wasn't me, I went back to my data logs and checked the clutch engagement on every single scene to make sure I wasn't riding the clutch; I was NOT...
I tracked mine at Mid-Ohio at the 300 mile mark. I did not hammer the brakes hard, and maybe redlined at 7k a few times, likely on accident. I did hold in the 4.5-6.5k range for each session. Frankly, I'm not too concerned about break it... i'll just change fluids at the shortened equivalent...
1. Yes, agreed. You get used to this so quickly you think you’re accelerating, decelerating, and turning slower as the day goes on.
2. I’m still not comfortable with this but the Honda Engineers combined with the Brembos make this thing stop very quickly.
Same... somewhat because of your suggestion, but also because i've probably got plenty of high-RPMS on the engine already from track/xcross that it will be close to the proper "interval" at that time.
Magnaflo Exhaust
Looks like a nice setup. The double pantleg fitting at the tip is a big improvement over the stock side taps (which if you understand the Bernoulli principle, isn't a great tap...).
I'll have to look at others that keep the valve, but this is pretty high on my list for a new...
I tended to assume so. At the track, I really felt it wasn't the block that couldn't perform, but the entire air system itself just seems too small and restrictive. I know it's a compromise when Honda design (cost vs. performance), but the intercooler and charge pipes, intake, and exhaust...
Since this is not my DD, it will be garaged all winter and likely come out in the spring with too much money sunk in...
Nevertheless, maybe 5w-40 is better then?
Any reason to keep the stock oil in it (I know it has conditioners...)?
I'm probably at the 550mile range now...
I’m intrigued by the Quickjack lineup. I do all my own maintenance on several cars and have wanted something like this for awhile. Is Quickjack the better name? Who else is out there? Which is the preferred one for the type R? How about that and a 2023 Pilot?
I see someone say the one they...
