Picked one up this weekend for cheap off of Facebook marketplace. Any 6" flange cone filter will fit nice and snug on this intake. I went with the AEM Dryflow 21-2093dk as this is the one I had on my PRL HVI for a bit.
Took a mini 250 mile road trip with this intake and it performed flawlessly...
Have you checked fuel trims with this intake? I'd also be interested in replacing the foam filter with something else. Do you kn the od of the velocity stack?
How is the AFE dry drop in? I've had my eye on it for a bit. Does it have a decent amount of surface area compared to the OEM? I know k&n's are a lot thinner and have less pleats meaning less surface area than the OEM paper filter. Curious how the AFE is.
Also, is there any added turbo noise...
Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to your results. This guy on Instagram has been doing a series of homemade tests on various aftermarket filters. The Aem dryflow did very well according to his test!

Ahh okay. I had the same idle issue using the OEM screws. Switched to shorter screws and the idle issue went away. I thought it might have been a small leak at the MAF since the longer screws were too long to screw in all the way
A cool little intake mod that doesn't affect reliability or filtration is the PRL silicone intake hoses. Same ones that come with the stage 1 intake. They look nice, smooth the airflow, and add a tiny bit more induction noise. They're probably also more durable than the OEM corrugated hoses.
Wow! I'm surprised you noticed a power difference. When I compared the two, max MAF voltage would be slightly higher with the PRL filter indicating higher flow. Not sure if this translates to more power but I'm also on the stock tune.
I don't think the PRL filter is "cheap" per say, but rather...
Yeah I was just worried that the flange will bunch up since it's having to be compressed down so much and cause an unfiltered leak. I'll probably throw the AEM back on mine and check for any dust bypass after a few thousand miles. Holding the PRL filter up to the light doesn't inspire much...
