I am sure you can go to the dealer. I just wrote down that I had 1511 miles on my SI cluster and I purchase the Type-R cluster with 674 miles.
dealers cant read and write odo and mm data to used clusters, only new

For the folks thinking about this swap or something similar, wouldn't this create a permanent resale problem? Obviously the swapped cluster will display the wrong mileage, and since the original (and used) cluster can't be updated to account for the miles driven while it is out of the car, there would be no way to sell a car with accurate mileage on the cluster? This would seem to me to potentially have a large effect on resale value.

I guess the only way around it would to be a third new cluster and have the dealer reprogram it?

you can get the type r ads module, add power, ground and can bus wires (can tap anywhere on the can as its parallel circuits then add the cancelation kits offered by some companies for people who switch to aftermarket shocks or coilovers. does the mileage read km?
I will have to look into the kits, I was thinking about this, I think normally though I would have to have something to plug into.... not sure where these kits plug into.

Also with the Type-R cluster all functions work, just that one error message.

That is good to know. I kept record of original miles on both clusters before the swap, so I will know the difference which is a plus, car had 1511~ new, FL5 cluster had 674~.

I can't tell you enough of how happy I am. I did want to mention that Stop Start does function, however, it can no longer be turned off. (doesn't bother me).

Update; 2/14/24

I was able to order Type-R steering wheel controls, cluster works perfect! Radio, settings, etc. Cluster is beautiful.

Mode Switch

I also ordered the type-R mode switch panel, sadly even after reviewing wiring this does "NOT" currently turn the cluster into R-Mode. My guess the functionality is store in the actual radio behind the dash and then uses can bus to send a signal to the cluster. Funny thing is if you look at the wiring it's a single pink wire that goes from the switch to the cluster. When you press *R-Mode* all you're doing it ground the switch. However, after wiring the switch the cluster still never changed. Little bit of a bummer, but I did not expect it to work.

that 200 MPH on the dash goes crazy lol can you make a video of the start up of the dash?
I sure can! I am trying to make a video right now of a full install of the FL5 wireless charger in the Si.

You would just straight wire them up the the ads module. Is the mileage in km or miles?

you have to repin wire 13 (light blue) to 6 on cluster, and type r mode will activate if grounding that pink (type r) wire you said (light blue in si after swapping 13 to 6) . however, the type r drive mode connector is 10 pin and the si is 8 pin. you'd have to repin the connector or cut and solder. you can also add a separate button somewhere for the auto idle stop button. it seems europe type r's have the r button and idle stop button may just need to add a wire between r button and cluster. wires run straight to cluster by the way.

Stop-Start, idle stop start, all same, I just called it stop-start because I worked at FCA in SRT for sometime.

I back probed the connector for the SI into the Type-R switch. I even ground the pink wire, (have extra wiring and I added pin (6) to the cluster. When Type R mode is selected, all it does is bring up the screen on the center display... and asked if to chose your individual settings

so just straight grounding pin 6 on cluster (not hooking up to switch) just asks for input on audio display instead of changing to type r mode on cluster? Here’s the diagram in case it helps.

On the Si there are really only 3 wires that run the switch, Blue (mode switch up), white (Mode switch down), Black, (ground)

For the Type are the R-Mode I tried just to ground after placing a pin in the cluster connector..

After running more wires for the modes, BLUE + White + Black + (Wire ran for the R-Mode), the switch when press just brought a display up on the screen.. of the civic that shows the engine, and individual ways to adjust, steering, throttle , and I forgot the last one.

I am curious if the radio receiver behind the dash or the actual infotainment screen allows the cluster to switch?

I downloaded all wiring for a 2023 CIVIC TYP R and 2024 SI (honda has a site you can pay daily, weekly monthly yearly subscriptions to) I chose 1 day for 30.00 lol.

Any chance you could look up part numbers for the infotainment display and the radio behind the dash that has like 10 plugs.
