That makes sense. Especially given the strong dyno results for the FL5 you would expect it to be faster - a lot faster.

It’s great, just hit 1600 miles yesterday

pads, lines, fluid & valve cover going on next week
Dayummm! 1,600! Im about half that and nervous im racking em up too quick lol.

Just went out in sleet with a little slush on the roads (its above freezing point) and hit a merge perfectly in third and slipped out. Through the whole slide the car felt in control and intuitive- not once did I feel in jeopardy, in fact I wanted to give it more gas lol. Ive noticed the suspension really settle in now especially in comfort mode and am elated every time by the vibrations from the unbalanced engine. As a dude I’ve only used the word “adore” when describing my kids and now this car. Smitten I am.

Its plenty quick, and the 2021 LE even ran a 13.3 @ 110. 2020 Type R also ran a 13.4 @108. I find it odd the new one is slightly slower but its still very quick. Excited to try new one.
So bottom line then you don't buy the FL5 over the FK8 for the increased speed -since there really isn't any to speak of - but apparently the handling is even better - sharper turn in, better rotation, less understeer, perhaps even more grip. At least per the comments of a certain F1 driver.

At least not increased drag speed. I might suggest it has better power / acceleration at the right parts of the power band to make it faster on the twisties - which is what this car is about.

Took delivery this afternoon and had a 2+ hour drive back home to feel the car out. A couple thoughts, especially in comparison to the 2020 Veloster N I traded in:

- This shifter is unreal. The positioning, the throw, the feel. It's satisfyingly notchy but simultaneously smooth and solid. The N shifter was notchy but always felt a bit floaty. The Type R feels surgical.

- Power delivery is incredibly smooth. It is very easy to go very fast without realizing it. I'm going to really have to get used to this. The entire way home, every 10 minutes or so I'd catch myself over the speed limit by a lot without noticing.

- Comfort mode is stiff but markedly more planted and comfortable than the comfort mode on the N. I'm looking forward to throwing some Swift springs on the R to lower it and see if I can get a slightly cushier ride.

- The seats are both amazingly comfortable and surprisingly tight. I'm not that big of a guy and I felt pretty squeezed by the bolstering around my lower back. I can't believe this car is gonna motivate me to work out more.

I love it already. My N was, in many ways, more of a fun car to drive. It was loud and rowdy and infinitely tossable. It sounded and felt like you were driving the shit out of it even when you weren't. When I decided that I wanted a more refined daily with better interior materials, I looked closely at the S3. That car is amazing but almost too cushy and a little boring. I still want a sort of goofy JDM car with a giant wing and curb appeal. The Type R threads the needle perfectly between these two and after only a few hours I can't imagine getting rid of it for something else.

Also, not sure if there is a better place to ask this, but the dealer upsold me on an extended warranty with JM&A (Platinum level) for $3587 to extend my 3/36k to 8/100k. I usually don't go for these but I have 60 days to cancel it for a full refund and reviews say it's actually a good warranty. Anyone with experience with this one?

Contact Honda dealers that sell Honda Care. Ask for a quote for the same duration.

What he said. When I ran my new vin through it was about $1100.00 0 deductible. I hope to pick up my car in the next couple of weeks. I’m bringing the Honda Care quote with me. I’m at work so don’t have the paperwork with me. If you contact me privately I’ll send you a copy of what I have gotten.

Spent the last couple evenings to drive some much needed break-in miles after the car had PPF done.

FL5 is very fun and near-flawless out of the box. The car will dart towards whichever direction I point it to with pretty much no body roll. The seat firmly keeps me in place comfortably. Together with a great engine, the car drives on b-roads swiftly and effortlessly.

This is the shortest suspension I ever experienced compared to previous cars I had with coilovers. Yet the FL5 rides remarkably well in comfort mode. So well that if I'm blindfolded, I would not know the car has 19" wheels with 30 series tire. I wish Sport and +R modes are mapped with better valving, but it's not as crazy stiff as some people find. Definitely more bearable than a set of JIC-Magic coilovers in medium.

man :(
It cost me $5k for third party (Merrill lynch) 7/100k with zero deducible.
I think @Tickle mentioned I should cancel the 3rd party and ask for Honda Care, but I (due to douchology) completely spaced out...wonder if too later to get honda care.

Sorry borrowing your word @mbaapk :)

Haha, you should be able to cancel the policy and get money back for the unused portion.
