I had one dealer I talked to a few weeks ago call me back. They said they’re now taking deposits to form the official line. Didn’t say that they had any new news to trigger that, but that they expect the car to price at around $40k and that their markup will be $5k unless the MSRP ends up a lot higher than 40. So this process might be starting more in other markets.

from the press release a few weeks back: "Pricing and additional details on the 2023 Civic Type R will be provided closer to launch this fall."

september = fall
Yeah, I’m not saying people shouldn’t post things they hear, but it’s obvious that people should take what anyone says, with a grain of salt, even from a GM. The dealerships seem to know the least out of anyone. Is it possible they don’t show up until January 2023? Sure anything’s possible, but considering how all over the place we are with info right now, a single place telling me they think they know when the car is coming, doesn’t hold too much water.

…unless it’s from Honda.

I work in sales at a Honda store. I have for quite a long time. Honda sales people specialize in selling future cars. I have heard all sort of untrue information from customers in reference to promises or the sales manager says this or that GM says that. CTR is a big deal to us but someone else out there is going gaga over an HR-V or an Odyssey.

I'm buying a CTR. My GM knows I'm buying our CTR. We have worked together for sometime.. He doesn't care any more about a CTR than he would a Ridgeline.

I do all that grandstanding to say...

When word gets out about the CTR.. Everyone will know it all at the same time. Nothing is a secret.

I also can't stress enough... Honda is down big because of supply issues. Delays were frequent... However I think now Honda has become more cautious to commit to production dates unless they really feel good about it.

Take from this what you will.

I agree with everything you’re saying, people act like there is some kind of secret club that knows something everyone else doesn’t, but when real info gets released, we all know about it. Until then, it’s all just rumor mill.
I am happy to keep seeing progress though. Someone just posted pics of a Type R in the wild in LA, parked in an apartment complex.

I’m on the list at the Honda dealer in Boise. I’m 7th in line.
My contact told me the first guy will take his for sure. 3 he’s not sure can/will even get approved. The other 2 he didn’t know, so I could conceivably be anywhere from 2 to 7 to receive. He also told me it could be up to 2 years but that they really don’t know a lot yet. So I guess it is what it is. I’ll just be ready when my name is called.

Me personally, no. But I’m one of those weirdos that likes muted styling and red carpet.
Same. I put my car up for sale about 8-10 months ago for a crazy price, and if it sold I was buying an FK8. Glad I didn’t. And I’ve seen a lot of people not excited about the red carpet. I think I was the most excited about that ?
